The Peak

View from the Peak

Ben from New Zealand and I parted, only to run into each other again at the tram station that runs up to the top of The Peak, Hong Kong's best viewpoint.

As we rode up the tram we were also informed (by the tram's propaganda) that The Peak is a great place to shop for kitschy souvenirs, stop for a meal or a nice ice cream, or visit one of the slightly out-of-place tourist traps, like Ripley's Believe It or Not Odditorium. Ah, the exotic Orient.  We caught a few views from the viewing platform, then escaped the throng of tourists by hiking up to the top of the peak. We met a woman from Germany along the way, who joined us in our quest for the summit. The humor and joy of an American, a New Zealander, and a German all meeting on a mountain of Hong Kong were not lost on me.

I left the two to hike back down to town while I took the tram to the ferry terminal.
