In doing so, they discovered <a title=\"Wired magazine gets sporty\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/playbook\/2010\/09\/cheerleader-eating-mascot\/\" target=\"_blank\">a rash of cheerleader-eating mascots<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That got me thinking. At some point, every fan&#8217;s been disgruntled with their team. We&#8217;ve all needed that stupid mascot to cheer us up when we were down in the dumps. So if there really is a serial cheerleader-munching mascot out there, where would we most like to see his next attack?<\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"margin-left: 4px; margin-right: 4px;\" title=\"unsuspecting cheerleader, moments before ingestion\" src=\"http:\/\/gihamilton.com\/blog\/images\/cheerleader-football-oregon-rain-slicker.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"161\" height=\"240\">UC Santa Cruz @ Oregon<\/strong> \u2014 The Ducks are serving up a 72-0 feast of the Banana Slugs when UCSC mascot, Sammy the Slug, tires of his diet of native rhododendrons. His victim, a sullen webfoot cheerleader, was caught unaware while longing for sunnier days in her native Arizona.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michigan State @ SDSU<\/strong> \u2014 In the most theatrical (and grisly) mascot stunt ever, &#8220;Monty&#8221; of the San Diego State Aztecs, lops off that oversized Sparty&#8217;s head, rolls it down the stadium steps, and eats his still-beating Spartan heart. Anthropologists and Mel Gibson applaud the historical realism of the ritual.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"margin-left: 4px; margin-right: 4px;\" title=\"lego streaker!\" src=\"http:\/\/gihamilton.com\/blog\/images\/legoland-windsor-streaker.jpg\" alt=\"tasteful reenactment of a streaking episode\" width=\"160\" height=\"240\">Florida @ every team they play all season<\/strong> \u2014 Albert E. and Alberta Gator make a new name for their struggling Florida franchise <em>(What? Not Top 5?!)<\/em> by mercilessly consuming each opposing team&#8217;s entire pep squad in the first quarter. Only <a title=\"story on the BCS streaker\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.suntimes.com\/sportsprose\/2010\/01\/the_bcs_title_game_streaker_ha.html\" target=\"_blank\">the BCS streaker<\/a> knows\u2014 duh\u2014 that you have to run zigzag to escape a charging alligator. The streaker survives the attack and becomes the new official national BCS mascot.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow&#8217;s the Civil War in Corvallis; next stop, BCS Championships.
